When I walked out of prison after 20 years, I carried little more than fear and a sense of being lost in a world that had moved on without me, a world in which I had no future or even hope. Restorative Transitions gave me not just a roof over my head, but a place where I could start again—with dignity, compassion, and purpose. Without you, I might have ended up on the streets, back behind bars, or worse. Instead, I was met with open arms, steady guidance, and a community that believed in me when I couldn’t yet believe in myself.
You never asked for anything in return. You simply wanted to see me succeed. Even when I struggled to navigate a world that felt alien and overwhelming, you were patient, supportive, and kind. Restorative Transitions didn’t just offer shelter—you helped me build a foundation.
You taught me how to live again, how to work, how to communicate, and how to take responsibility for myself. You gave me the tools and structure to begin supporting myself, even when the process was so difficult that I wanted to give up. And when I felt like I couldn’t do it, you reminded me that I could—and stood by me until I did. Your belief in me carried me through moments when I had none left for myself.
Now, as I prepare to take my first independent steps out into the world, I carry with me, not just the lessons and tools you’ve shared, but the spirit in which you gave them. Even as I leave the program, you continue to offer your support, proving that your investment in people doesn’t end when a formal completion does.
Some people speak of following the example of Jesus. You have lived that example—not through words or sermons, but through your actions, your love, your grace, and your sacrifice I am humbled and forever changed by it.
I don’t know what the future holds for me, but from the bottom of my heart, thank you. You helped give me my life back and more than that you helped me believe that maybe I deserve it after all.
